PROCLEIX® HIV-1/HCV Discontinuation
Novartis Diagnostics has notified ViroMed Laboratories that they will be discontinuing the
PROCLEIX® HIV-1/HCV Assay in 2012. Therefore, beginning January 09, 2012, ViroMed
will be changing its NAT laboratory testing and only offer the Procleix® Ultrio® Assay
(HIV-1/HCV/HBV). A client letter, updated test list and a frequently asked question
document were sent to clients on November 7, 2011.
JC Virus Testing
ViroMed now offers JC Virus qualitative testing to aid in the diagnosis of infections caused by
JC virus on CSF, blood and urine specimens. The following test numbers apply:
NEW TEST: Parvovirus B19, Quantitative PCR (139326)
ViroMed is now offering a quantitative test for Parvovirus B19 for the detection and
quantitation of parvovirus as an aid in the diagnosis and management of parvovirus
infections. The quantitative range is 500 copies/mL to 10 million copies/mL. Acceptable
specimens include a frozen serum or plasma sample that has been separated within 24 hours.

at the 27th Annual Clinical Virology Symposium and Annual Meeting of the Pan American
Society for Clinical Virology in Daytona Beach, Florida, May 8-11, 2011.
